Who Is Your Support?

Greetings everyone from Christian Help For Addiction Online…We hear so many people talk of “support systems” and how it is so important to have great support. Having a great support system is truly important, especially when that system is in line with God.
I always ask people how many friends do they have, and sometimes I get…”Oh I have a lot of friends, maybe a dozen or so” Well i’ll tell you what, when your money and health runs out, and your really down and out, then you will truly learn how many “True friends” you really have.
It’s not easy getting up out of a bed at 3 am in order to console a friend who is having a tough time…but that’s how friendship is defined…sacrificing for the people you love. Christ sacrificed his time and energy on those around him…he spent TIME with his friends praying and discussing life issues.
Try adding God to your “support system” today. Go to him in prayer, and start reading the bible. At times verses will jump out to you like they are just meant for you alone. God is there 24/7 and even on holidays….you can’t go wrong with making him the biggest focus of you life…
Here’s another great devotional from intouch.org…stay well
In our culture, God’s name is oftentimes mentioned with little reverence. In fact, many people actually use it as a curse. Even among those who love Him, it is far too common to use His name casually, without taking time to ponder who He is. When you say a blessing at mealtimes, for instance, do you realize that you are talking to the almighty Creator God who rules over all things?
Our view of the Lord impacts three areas of life. First, it affects our prayers. As we come to know Him better and better, our desires will start to look like His goals for us, and our petitions will align more closely with His purposes. Furthermore, as we recognize His greatness and power, we’ll become more confident that He can accomplish mighty things—and we will venture to “pray big.”
Second, our understanding of His righteousness and goodness influences our behavior. If God has these attributes, surely it is in our best interest to obey gladly. We will desire righteousness and be quick to repent of sin.
Third, our faith is impacted. Grasping that Jesus is holy, good, and powerful grows our trust in Him. Knowing our awesome God and remembering His great works will further build our confidence in Him.
Do you personally know our loving and holy heavenly Father? He invites you into an intimate relationship with Him. But, as with any good friendship, time and intentionality are necessary to understand Him and learn His ways. The more you do that, the more your prayers, behavior, and faith will be impacted.
At Christian Help For Addiction Online, we continue to pray for you and the struggles you might be having….No matter if it is a drug addiction or an alcohol addiction or whatever addiction life challenges you with, God can help you overcome them…Pick up an inexpensive bible and began reading it…the messages and stories just might make a difference in your life…God Bless…
Watch Your Thoughts

Hello, from Christian Help For Addiction Online
Our thoughts can be quite powerful….and sometimes if we continually dwell on the “negative” aspects of life…we tend to get depressed, anxious, and frustrated. Unfortunately, “stinking thinking” can sometimes become a habit…as our first waking thought could be..”ok..another day…I wonder what’s going to happen today?”…
Changing habits can be troublesome for many….but if we include God in the equation…we could have a better chance of success…try starting your day with a morning prayer….I start mine with..”thanks Lord for another day…being here with family and friends…help me to be a positive influence for others…and stand by me during difficult times”….
Our prayers don’t have to be some scholarly recital meant to impress somebody….God takes us just as we are…no matter how bad we have messed up….So tomorrow morning try saying (even if you have to pretend and force it out)…”Thanks God for another day…I feel stronger and am going to have a great day”….give it a try for a few weeks and see what happens…..you really have nothing to lose…
Here’s a daily devotional from intouch.org….stay well and God Bless
When life falls apart, how do you cope? All of us face circumstances that challenge our peace—and some of these situations are very painful and prolonged. Unless we have purposeful focus, joy fades and hope seems unattainable.
King David experienced extreme hardships, including the profound grief of losing a child and a best friend. And King Saul, for selfish reasons, pursued him in an attempt to take his life. Later, David’s own son led a rebellion against him. As drastic as these trials are, they were just four of the many difficulties he endured. Yet even in times of deep suffering, David found hope and peace in God.
How was his soul sustained when others in similar situations would have drowned in despair? David knew how to meditate. He focused his mind and spirit on God—His character, ways, and will—in order to know the Lord better and to obey Him.
We should be following David’s example. Our role during difficulty is to set our eyes on our heavenly Father and meditate on His Word. The Psalms document the depth and passion for which the shepherd and soon-to-be king delighted himself in God. By continually pondering the attributes and ways of the Lord, he found solace in the midst of turmoil.
What subjects consume your thoughts during the day? Do you have time set aside to dwell solely on the Lord? Perhaps you can remind yourself periodically to bring your attention back to your Creator—one way is to read several of the Psalms and notice how the author refocuses on the almighty God.
Here at Christian Help For Addiction Online…we pray that you not only get stronger each and every day…but get closer to God as well….Meditate, pray and call out to God for strength….Life can be a challenge at times….and we need 24/7 support that we sometimes can’t get from friends and family…..However…God is there 24/7 365 days a year….and he is waiting to lend some support…stay well…..
When Things Are Going Good-Don’t Foget God

Life seems to mimic the ocean at times, with its waves and storms that seem to have no true set pattern. Sometimes the seas of life are calm, and things seem to be going quite smoothly. Our stresses are down, we are working and our abuse of drugs and alcohol are at a minimum.
But then the storms of life hit us again, just like a 30 foot wave hitting a boat. These storms could come in the loss of a job or loss of a family member. We could be under stress in our relationships, and at turmoil with individuals that we call “friends”
Anyway you look at it, there will be good and bad times. It’s easy to turn to God and hit our knees when things are going bad. Sometimes there is nobody else there but him, as those so called “friends” are in the wind so to speak. We cry out for help and guidance, and it truly seems that God gives us only what we can bear.
But how about the good times, when things are going good? Do we take some time out to thank God for those quiet times, and give him credit for them. God desires to have fellowship with us (through prayer), in the good times and the bad.
So the next time there seems to be a pause in the “drama” in your life or the people around you, give thanks to God. My favorite prayer is…”thank you Lord for another day. I am walking in peace today thanks to you. I know there will be some tough times ahead, but if I stick by your side by continually praying and talking to you through prayer, I know we can get through anything together”….
So that’s it. Keep praying and thanking. God knows you’re there, he created you in his image. Do you really think that he doesn’t love you? Never!….Until next time….stay well and God Bless….

Christian Rehab- Jesus Has the Answers.
Here’s an excellent article on addiction help and addiction recovery. Again, the main focus of support has to be God. Christian Help for Addiction is unique, as it is Christ centered and seeing him as our higher power. Hook up with a good Christian support group, and get into a bible based church. It might just make the difference in your recovery. Enjoy the article.
We can never hope to get better until we admit to ourselves and to God what we have become; the sins committed and the spiritual conceit exhibited. While we maintain a self delusional deceit over the rightness of our unchristian actions, we continue to feel worldly pain, and feel ourselves ever farther from the love of Jesus.
Jesus said, “The truth will set you free” (John 8:32) and until we can be true to ourselves and true to our God, we can never hope for real freedom from the pains of substance abuse or addiction.
Christian Rehab
The answers to all problems in life are contained within the bible, and no other text or person is required for a full and honest understanding of God’s wishes; but too many of us become mired in the depths of spiritual dishonesty and self deception and need some help to once again discover the right path in life, and once again feel God’s love and purpose for our lives.
We do not need to recover from addiction with anyone but God, but since there is real power in the fellowship and communal prayer of other faithful also in recovery, we often benefit from a shared battle with addiction, and a shared walk towards Christ.
Understanding God’s Will
Until we can be honest before God of all of our shortcomings and all of our spiritual conceits, we cannot hope to feel His strength and use His love; but for addicts coming out of lengthy periods of use and delusion, it can be tough to know just how deep our delusions run, and how deep we must delve to rid ourselves from this barrier to God’s love.
Through heartfelt prayer and soul searching we come closer to personal honesty, but we also benefit from a communal exploration of our problems and wrong actions, gaining insight from others also in recovery on where our delusions lie, and how we can rid ourselves of them for God. In addition to group therapy and group prayer sessions, working one-on-one with Christian counselors helps us to further understand the error of our ways, how God can help us live better, and how we can live better in God’s image.
Prayer
You don’t need Christian rehab for a better life for God and free from the pains of abuse, all you need is prayer, honesty and the bible; but as we remain imperfect and flawed, we often have trouble with what sounds so simple and so right; live by God’s word, and be free from the pain of addiction.
Recovering in a Christian rehab can help. You cannot live another day separated from the love of Jesus; and Jesus forgives you for all of the terrible things you have done while trapped in worldly despair. Ask for his help, listen to His Word, live your life as He wishes, and you never need take another drink, or use drugs again.
Jesus never wishes us pain, but we bring so much into our lives anyways. Recovery is not going to be easy, but recovering without God’s help is impossible. Get help, find God once again; and live for Him. You’ll be happier.
Jesus can help, learn more about Christian Recovery

Faith Based Drug Addiction Treatment

Faith is personal. Each person’s faith is different and is expressed in different ways. Some people claim to not have any faith at all. It is important to understand, for the purposes of this article, that when this article talks about faith, it means faith in an omnipresent and omnipotent being or “God.” Many former addicts swear that the only thing that helped them overcome their drug and alcohol addiction was faith and working with a faith-based treatment program. While this article does not try to claim that faith-based drug rehab programs are the best option, it does explore them as a viable option for people who are trying to overcome an alcohol or drug addiction.
Drug and alcohol treatment centers may take great pride in their faith-based drug and alcohol rehabilitation counseling programs. There are many people who have been through the faith based program offered by treatment centers and swear by its efficacy. The program operates with the traditional “twelve steps” and helps drug and alcohol addicts find their way back to sobriety through a program of Christianity-based programs.
How does faith based drug and alcohol addiction treatments work?
Scripture Reading
People who enroll in a faith based drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatment program can count on spending some time studying the scriptures in the Old and New Testaments. This is a program that draws upon the scriptures for inspiration and advice on how to forge a new way in the world once an addict has gotten sober. There are study sessions and individual therapy meetings in which the addict and his/her counselor or study groups will examine bible verse and scripture and discuss its meaning and how that particular verse can help guide them toward sobriety.
Group Counseling
While group counseling is an integral part to any drug and alcohol rehabilitation program’s addiction treatment, the group counseling sessions in a faith-based drug treatment center will incorporate faith-based ideas: talk about the divine, how to talk to God and ask him for help during sobriety trials and how the history of the Church can be used as a point of strength as a person works to become sober. Many group therapy sessions advocate the embrace of the Divine as a coping mechanism.
The Twelve Steps
The Twelve Steps have gotten quite famous over the last few decades and they are an integral part to any faith-based drug treatment program. “Working the steps” is a concept familiar to drug addicts of all stripes and many find this “roadmap” toward drug addiction recovery comforting (even when it proves to be a challenge). The twelve steps walk a person suffering from a drug addiction from the very beginning of recovery (admitting there is a problem) to living a sober life, free of drugs and alcohol.
Church
All faith-based drug rehab treatment programs will incorporate some time in Church. Many people who go through a faith-based drug rehab program find comfort in the routine and predictability of Church and attending regular services. While the point of going to services is to gain inspiration from the divine, many addicts take comfort even in the routine of Church itself. The familiar routine helps addicts cope with the rocky road that encompasses getting sober.
There are a couple of drug and alcohol treatment centers in Florida that have a very popular faith-based rehabilitation program. A faith-based program should also incorporate the popular twelve step program to be effective for addicts and alcoholics. They combine scripture classes, counseling with the on-site pastor, individual therapy sessions, group therapy sessions and mandatory Church attendance (only for those on the faith-based recovery track
The truth is that, even if you don’t believe in a divine being yourself, that for those who do believe in the divine, faith-based drug rehab is one of the best options available. Where else can someone trying to get sober find comfort if not in their faith? The faith-based treatment program along side of the twelve step program offers a higher rate of success. Those who achieve long term sobriety generally have a loving higher power in their life to help guide them and restore them to sanity. Faith-based treatment programs have been proving to be successful for many years and will continue for years to come.

Pain Killer Addiction

Pain killer addictions are becoming more frequent these days, as the demand is steadily increasing and the supply seems to be easily obtained.
This new trend hit home closely, as a friend of mine (Frank), became addicted to vicodin within one years time. Frank blew out a disc several years back, and put surgery on the back burner. His physician, meaning well, began prescribing vicodin, along with some other addiction pain killers. Frank recollects starting at (Vicodin 5mg/325), which killed the pain for about 3 months. Frank noticed after the three month period that the 5mg wasn’t cutting it. His physician up it to 7.5 mg, and from there it was the point of no return for Frank
Pain killer addictions, just like any other addiction, are life changing, or worse yet, life destroying. Names such as Vicodin, Oxycotin, and Percocet come to mind. The prescription for these can be justified and obtained quite easily, so be careful! Sometime you have to be your own physician, and think of the consequences of using these addictive medications.
Here at Christian Help for Addiction, we strive to provide our readers with relevant and up to date content that will help them not only improve their lives, but help them avoid situations that might become detrimental over time. Help for addictions, be it pain killer addictions, internet addictions, sex addictions or whatever blank you can fill in, is usually a phone call away.
