Greetings all from Christian Help For Addiction Online..we hope and pray you had a safe holiday weekend…

My buddy was telling me how he thinks he’s getting hooked to his laptop computer and/or the Internet….he was saying…”I don’t know, I use to go on to check some financial news and then surf the web for about 15 minutes, but now I’m stuck on facebook for hours at a time and then, still surfing for a couple more…before you know it, it’s like 4-5 hours on the computer”

Years ago I would have thought wow….but I actually find myself spending m0re and more time in cyberspace then I use to years ago…..

Where it starts to get sticky is when your “cyberspace” time….compromises other things in your life. What I mean by that is let’s say that you’re married with kids, and it’s a weekend, and the family wants to do something together (that’s a good thing) but we blow them off saying I “just have to check a few thing on the web first”….next thing you know….you lost a coupe hours of good quality time…

The compromise could be in the way of spending less time with family and friends….neglecting school work…..isolating yourself from life’s pleasures…and the list goes on and on..

Remember…we are creatures of habit….and for some…habits form quite easily. Before you know it, your innocent web surfing from years ago has actually turned into a “cyberspace habit” and possibly an “Internet addiction” in extreme cases…

Try to discipline yourself…set aside a set period of time each day or night that you will do your web thing…..and then walk away from the computer….if you find yourself struggling to walk away….you might need some professional intervention….

Life is short…and we don’t want to spend the majority of it in “cyberspace” We should be spending time with people we enjoy….go for a walk…walk your neighbors dog….call a friend….read a few bible verses….

Just be careful you don’t fall into “another habit trap”….they really do develop quickly and before you know it….your struggling to break free…

Here at Christian Help For Addiction Online, we pray that your life is ever improving, and that you are getting closer to God by praying more and reading the bible. God can really make a difference in your life if you give him a try….stay Well

There might be a lot of bridges that you burned down behind you……Some people who were hurt, and who still hold grudges to this day…..Thank God he doesn’t hold a grudge. There are people in this world who won’t forgive us for our past mistakes. We say we are sorry and try to make amends, but they just cannot forgive.

But out God knows out weaknesses and knows that we are not perfect. He is quick to forgive, and help steer us back on the right path.

Here is a great excer[t from Dr. Charles Stanley. He is on the television on Sundays. Try to watch him this Sunday.

The church I grew up in could sum up much of its theology in one statement: “Thou shalt not . . .” I don’t recall hearing about a Father’s love or how to live the Christian life. What I learned was that a wrathful God would punish me if I didn’t follow all the rules. And there seemed to be rules for everything—including what I could read, what I could wear, and what I could do.

As a teenage boy, I spent a lot of time begging the Lord to forgive me for one foolish thing or another. And I carried a constant weight of guilt and worry around with me everywhere I went. I just couldn’t seem to be good enough. In truth, the rules were a burden to me, and since I thought God made them, He was a burden too.

In my young adult years, I learned that my perception of God was wrong. He is gracious and loving. The commandments that He gave were designed to keep us
safe and free from shame. But even when we do mess up, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ (Rom. 8:1). That means He forgives our sin and “wipes out . . . transgressions,” remembering them no more (Is. 43:25). We may have to live with consequences but never with the weight of guilt.

God is not a burden. He is the burden-bearer (Ps. 68:19), who placed our sins on Jesus Christ, thereby relieving us of that heaviness. Don’t keep staggering under the load of guilt. Lay it down before a loving, gracious Lord who offers a yoke that is easy and light (Matt. 11:30).

We hope you are moving forward with your walk with God, and we comtinue to pray for all our readers. God Bless.

Wow….just learned a friend of a friend has got arrested for driving under the influence…it was prescription drugs of all things….The woman was a nurse, and her license was suspended and now she is concerned about her professional license being taken away as well….when it rains it pours…

After talking with my buddy he revealed that she had gone through a difficult divorce and then developed some “back issues” that needed to be treated….she sunk into a deep depression to make matters worse….he states that the woman was actually “washing down” the pain killers with wine….ouch!

Further information revealed that she was so distraught over her marriage break-up, that she started neglecting the kids, who were now acting out in school…

Our lives can change in a moment at times….from marriage struggles, to finances, to some health issues, you name it, and life comes at you..

People ask me where is God in some of these “messes”, and I tell them right there besides you……this is truly a fallen world, and far from a paradise…when I think how Christ wasn’t even spared from it as they beat him unmercifully and nailed him to a cross….tough way to go out..

But the one thing he promised was that he will never leave us or forsake us, and he usually gives us only what we can cope with……Faith is really tested during tough times…..and sometimes it’s the “eleventh” hour when God shows up…

The main thing you want to do is to keep on praying…don’t take matters into your own hands…but turn “everything” over to God….if you are struggling with a current addiction, then surrender it to God….say, “hey you know what, I can’t do this on my own, I really need some spiritual intervention”

Get a good bible, and start reading it….turn off some of that “junk” on the television…and get reading the best ”help book” in the world…it’s the only book ever written that has withstood the test of time….

Don’t give up…your moment of victory could be so close…now’s not the time to throw in the towel…God is there for you….reach out and pray.

It’s interesting to hear people tell you how many “friends” they have. True, we as humans enjoy being surrounded by others who share the same common interests, but be careful who you label as a friend.

It’s easy for other people to be attracted to you when you have money, health and are essentially “drama” free. But watch what happens to these so called “friends” when your money runs out, your health deteriorates, or your life turns into shambles, and you need others for help to get through some difficult times. It is during those difficult times, you will be able to determine who your friends really are.

Now don’t get me wrong, there are some people that just run from stress and can’t cope with it in their own lives let alone yours. These people shouldn’t be condemned, but just seen for who they are. True, there are some so called “friends” that will take advantage of you, but for the most part, people just struggle with handling issues, especially when it involves others.

If you are struggling with an addiction, then you have to be extra “vigilant” with whom you call “friends” Let’s face it, someone caught in a vicious cycle of addiction might not be thinking to clearly, and might not have your best interests at heart.

If you are in recovery and hanging around some “friends” who are actively using, you are in dangerous territory. Put these friends on the back burner until they get their lives together. Just tell them you still respect them as a person, but the temptation is far to great when being around them. If they don’t understand that, then you really have to question if they are a friend.

So be careful with the term “friend” A true friend will stand by you no matter what, and has only “your best interests” in mind. They are there for you when you are healthy and when you are sick. If they get the call at 3 in the morning that you need help, they are there for you. They are supportive and quick to criticize you if you are engaging in “risky” behavior, (drinking/drugging) as a true friend should be concerned about your well-being.

Here at Christian Help For Addiction Online we pray that you are becoming stronger each and every day. We hope that you are actively seeking “God” by praying and reading your bible daily. Christ is the best friend you will ever have, as he is there 24/7 365 days a year, hearing your needs. I always tell folks to read the book of Psalms when they are struggling as it can be quite comforting. Stay well, and God Bless…

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33 (KJV)

Romans 8:38-39 #9 Bible Verse on Depression

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord

excuses for sinful or irresponsible behavior.

As believers, we don’t have to fall into this

You might be struggling with an addiction right now. Be it an alcohol or drug addiction, or many of the hundreds of others. Don’t give up hope.. Sometimes it’s in the last hour of your despair that God shows up. You might be at your breaking point, but hold strong and pray. You really have to “surrender” and say, “Lord, I can’t do this on my own, I need you now”, and then wait and see how God steps in.

You could be on the threshold of a break through, hang in there and pray.. Give it over to God, and watch him work in your life. We are praying for you…God Bless

Wow what more can I say but thanks. Especially all the mothers out there who have stood by us through thick or thin. I think of those reckless years, nights out, dysfunctional friends, struggle after struggle. But it always seemed that the mother of the individual struggling was always by their side. Mothers have thick skin, that’s for sure.

I appreciate my mother so much for being a “Godly” mother. How she would pray at night for safety and guidance for all of us, and how she lived a life of faith, always keeping God first in her life. We are lucky when we have good role models, it truly rubs off.

If your mother is still with you then be thankful. Make sure you tell her how much you love her and appreciate all the things she has done. Give her a hug, and pray with her. If you have unresolved issues with your mother, then out them aside. Life is too short, and Satan would love nothing more then to see you at odds with your mother. As Christ said..”the thief comes to kill, steal and destroy” Swallow your pride and put a leash on your ego. Give your mom a call and tell her how much you love her.

For new and current mothers today we continue to pray for you. This world seems to be deteriorating a a quick pace, (at least morally). If you truly want the world to change the realize it starts with you and your kids. We have to be a positive role model for them. Don’t leave it to the teachers or anybody else. They have their own short comings, and you might not want your kids looking up to them.

Let them see that you are a woman of God. That there is a G0d that they can pray to for guidance and direction. Children need this hope. With schools today pushing evolution more and more, they are just squeezing God out of the equation. Again like Christ said, “the thief comes to kill, steal and destroy”.

We hope you have a wonderful mothers day. If your mom is in the hands of God then say a quick prayer. Something like, “Dear lord, Give mom a hug, we miss her so much and tell her we love her” Hey don’t worry. Christ promised that all believers will be together again. So Believe!

Until next time stay well and God Bless>

You really have to be a little cautious these days with whom you are calling, or better yet labeling, your friend. Many of us just throw that term out there with even casual acquaintances. It seems that we are naturally longing for more and more friends.

This holds especially true if you are in a “vulnerable” state of mind. Perhaps you are struggling with an addiction. Maybe you are having trouble in a relationship and you ask that assumed “friend” for advice on how to mend you relationship. Suppose that person s coming off their own broken marriage or broken relationship. They could be angry at the opposite sex and start telling you how to “get even” rather then make amends.

W really have to be careful with who we take advice from. Sometimes people mean well, but what worked for them might be totally opposite for you.

If you need sound loving direction then open up the bible. I like the book of Proverbs. Start reading through that and its unbelievable how what was said thousands of years ago still pertains to today’s events and ailments. Even addictions are addressed from a Christian perspective.

Here at Christian Help For Addiction Online we hope to provide some Godly insights into improving your life. This life will come with trials and struggles, and we have to learn to navigate it in a healthy way. Self-medicating with alcohol and or drugs is not a healthy way, mainly because there are usually health consequences. Start picking up some healthy habits to cope and deal with the stress. If you need guidance in finding a “healthy lifestyle” then seek professional help. It will pay great dividends in the long run.

That’s a common statement we hear when things seem to fall apart. I don’t know if these tough times really build character as much as if they show if we have any character at all. I know so many people who are out of work, that’s it’s incredible they can still pay the bills. Truly a test of character.

The one thing that we really have to be cautious with is “self-medicating”, when we are under stress. It’s so easy to reach for a bottle, some pain pills, cocaine of even more. We attempt to alter our moods by altering our brain chemistry. This can be extremely dangerous.

This is going to be a difficult life at times. Even Christ said that “in this world you will have trials and tribulations” Reading between the lines I’m really glad that he said “this” world, meaning there is more to come. But anyway, we have to learn how to “navigate” this world in a healthy and sober way. Addictions are at extreme levels, with even Heroin coming back strong.

If you are looking for some “mood alteration” try Christ. Read the bible. Read the New Testament and focus on his teachings. He Will give you some guidance on what to do when the going gets tough. What Christ did was pray. It had a calming effect and led him to many resolutions. Give it a try…you just might find some peace in this crazy world.

Until we talk again….stay well….Vic

Ever hear of “Caffeine Withdrawal”? Well it’s alive and well….here’s some interesting facts:

Caffeine withdrawal is listed in DSM-IV in the appendix, “Criteria Sets and Axes Provided for Further Study.” Based on clinical experience, further research, and DSM-IV task force review, the diagnosis may become officially recognized. Symptoms may begin 6-12 hours after stopping or decreasing consumption, peak in 1-2 days, and persist for a week. The research criteria include the following:

Prolonged daily use of caffeine

Abrupt cessation of caffeine use or reduction in the amount of caffeine used, closely followed by headache and one or more symptoms that include marked fatigue or drowsiness, marked anxiety or depression, and nausea or vomiting.

The symptoms in the criteria listed above cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.

The symptoms are not due to the direct physiologic effects of a general medical condition (eg, migraine, viral illness) and are not better accounted for by another mental disorderhttp://emedicine.medscape.com/article/290113-overview

I was watching some associates down cans of this “Red Bull” stuff the other day. I’m like what’s that? They said, “Oh, just keeps me going”

Be cautious with some of the stimulants you put in your body. Many of them have side effects, and can cause some negative consequences. (see above).

Attempt to limit soft-drinks and coffee. (easier said then done), And if you find yourself struggling with anxiety or insomnia, check your diet. It just might need some adjustments. A friend of mine went to a licensed nutritionist. Boy did he turn his life around. It’s amazing what a healthy diet can do.

Here at Christian Help For Addiction Online we hope to provide our readers with some informative topics that might improve their well-being. Most of all, we believe a “higher power” is essential in navigating this life. We see that higher power as Christ….try prayer….it can do wonderful things…Stay well..Vic
