Greetings all from Christian Help For Addiction Online..we hope and pray you had a safe holiday weekend…

My buddy was telling me how he thinks he’s getting hooked to his laptop computer and/or the Internet….he was saying…”I don’t know, I use to go on to check some financial news and then surf the web for about 15 minutes, but now I’m stuck on facebook for hours at a time and then, still surfing for a couple more…before you know it, it’s like 4-5 hours on the computer”

Years ago I would have thought wow….but I actually find myself spending m0re and more time in cyberspace then I use to years ago…..

Where it starts to get sticky is when your “cyberspace” time….compromises other things in your life. What I mean by that is let’s say that you’re married with kids, and it’s a weekend, and the family wants to do something together (that’s a good thing) but we blow them off saying I “just have to check a few thing on the web first”….next thing you know….you lost a coupe hours of good quality time…

The compromise could be in the way of spending less time with family and friends….neglecting school work…..isolating yourself from life’s pleasures…and the list goes on and on..

Remember…we are creatures of habit….and for some…habits form quite easily. Before you know it, your innocent web surfing from years ago has actually turned into a “cyberspace habit” and possibly an “Internet addiction” in extreme cases…

Try to discipline yourself…set aside a set period of time each day or night that you will do your web thing…..and then walk away from the computer….if you find yourself struggling to walk away….you might need some professional intervention….

Life is short…and we don’t want to spend the majority of it in “cyberspace” We should be spending time with people we enjoy….go for a walk…walk your neighbors dog….call a friend….read a few bible verses….

Just be careful you don’t fall into “another habit trap”….they really do develop quickly and before you know it….your struggling to break free…

Here at Christian Help For Addiction Online, we pray that your life is ever improving, and that you are getting closer to God by praying more and reading the bible. God can really make a difference in your life if you give him a try….stay Well

I know I keep bringing this up, but I just keep hearing more and more about it….including people close to our inner circle who are getting addicted to such things as Vicodin and Oxycontin. Some facts on the Oxy’s reveal that it is a powerful pain reliever derived from opiates. The Vicodins are similar, as the compound “Hydrocodone” that is used in Vicodins are in the opiate family as well.

Now don’t get me wrong, there is truly a need for pain relief and a subscription for the above when the patient is suffering. Unfortunately what happens though, (as with other addictions) is the sufferer develops a “tolerance” to the medication. Subsequently he or she will need more just to get the same effects when they first started taking the medication.

Be real careful if you start with a prescription for any pain killer medication. They can be incredibly devious in the way they get a grip on you, and can easily turn a routine prescription into a habit. My friends brother developed arthitis in the spine, and needed a small daily dose. Eventually he told us he needed more and more just to get through the day (see tolerance), and before he knew it, he was hooked. He told us the “withdrawal” experience he had to get off the stuff was nothing short of agony.

So again, be cautious and continually consult with you doctor when on these types of medications. Ask him or her if they believe that adjustments should be made in the dosage, with the ultimate goal of you stopping the meds upon doctors advice.

Life can truly be a struggle at tmes for ourselves and family and friends. Unfortunately pain and suffering are a part of this “fallen” world, and we have to manuever it in the healthiest way possible. Turn to God with some of you daily struggles. When you see yourself as one of his creations, then a certain spiritual power can assist you in getting through these battles.

Sometimes our friends and family let us down. There’s really nothing we can do but forgive them, as they are human beings just like us, with many similar flaws. But God has no short-comings. When we turn to him in our time of need he will see us through the dark times. Try praying. Get a bible and read it. Here’s a simple prayer a friend taught me: “Dear God, these are truly difficult times. But I believe in you to see me through them. I Know you are by my side, and if I put my faith and trust in you, then I will see better days. It will be a battle God, but we will get through it together”

That prayer has bailed me out of so many difficult times. When you see yourself as a creation of God almighty, then you just know you are on the “winning” team. Start praying and see.

Here at Christian Help For Addiction Online we are always praying for our readers and believe that they will truly have better days ahead if he keep their hearts and minds focused on God.

There has been a lot of talk lately about Marijuana, and if it really is addicting. There are a lot of battles going on about physical addiction etc, but let’s talk about “Psychological addiction”.

here’s a good question. Why do I use Marijuana? Perhaps to “relax” me, maybe to let down my defenses and make me feel more social. Maybe it’s a “coping” tool, that I self medicate with so I can deal with the stresses in life.

How about if I quit cold turkey? Would I be able to quit cold turkey tomorrow and never “need” it again. I think the trigger word there is “need”. If we find ourselves actually “needing” something to function and or escape, it is a dependency. Thus, the “psychological addiction” of Marijuana.

Ask yourself if you really need the grass, and if you could stop it tomorrow? stay well and God Bless…

A friend of mine was telling me his struggles with cocaine over the phone the other nigh, and although I wasn’t physically there, I could truly feel his pain at the other end of the phone. I try to tell individuals who are struggling with an addiction, that “support” is a good thing. True, be careful who you are getting advice from, but for the most part, if you have a friend who has a “compassionate ear” and really doesn’t mind listening, then by all means use him or her as a resource.

Christian help for addiction goes one step further. It uses Christ as the biggest resource. But where can we find the help of Christ. In the new testament of the bible. Get yourself an easy to read bible, and read all of Christ’s teachngs in it.

You will see nothing but forgiveness, love, understanding and guidance. How can you go wrong with that.

Here at christian help for addiction online we hope and pray that you are getting positive support from “healthy” individuals in your life, who are making a positive impact in your life.

That seems to be a popular phrase…”we become a product of our environment”…and it still holds water today. For those of us that are struggling with an addiction or in recovery and battling an addiction….it is very important who we keep company with.

Start running with the winners a friend of mine had told me…how true that was….having healthy and sober friends that are navigating this life in a meaningful way is probably one of the best means of staying sober and drug free there is. Jump on their ships and enjoy the ride.

When I talk with some of the most successful people in the world and question them as to what helped them become a success..the most dominant factor was the associates they had, and if lucky enough, a winning mentor that showed them the ropes….

Start running with the winners…find some healthy successful friends that you can feed off of and it will turn your life around!!!

Here at christian help for addiction online we offer information for those that are struggling with an addiction be it an alcohol addiction, painkiller addiction, sex addiction or whatever. An addiction is an addiction, it manipulates our lives away from God and into despair. Stay well and God Bless

It seems we have all heard that you become a “product” of your environment. I think that holds a certain truths, and that human being have to be thrown into that definition of “environment”. For those struggling with an addiction, or in recovery from an addiction, they have to be extremely careful with who they share company with. If I’m in a fragile state, and I’m trying to focus on myself and my healing, the last place I should be is hanging out with those who are actively using, or those who are surrounded by negative influence.

If I’m in recovery and I walk into a party or social gathering and there’s a couple people in the corner getting high, and some others across the room slugging beer, get the heck out of there and quick. There is no need to stay in that kind of environment just to see if I could “handle” it or if I’m “strong” enough to resist. Forget it. Run as fast as you can, into a “safe” zone of healthy friends that don’t need to “regulate” their moods by introducing drugs or alcohol. Yes, they do exist. True it’s hard to find healthy, sober, friends, but if we look hard enough, they ae sure to surface.

So again, if you are in the early stages of change, run with the winners. Seek out healthy friends and acquaintences so you can “absorb” their winning ways, and lead a happier and sober life.

Here at Christian Help for Addiction Online we hope to provide information on addiction and addiction treatment. Christian addiction help online is unique in that it incorporates “Christ” as our higher power, who will be there for us no matter what the battle. Stay well and God bless..
